R.I.P. Malcolm McLaren (1946 - 2010)

"To be bad is good... to be good is simply boring." A quote from Malcolm McLaren's influential grandmother. McLaren sadly passed away after battling mesothelioma (a rare form of cancer). He was 64. McLaren wore many hats in his varied career, most famously as the Sex Pistols manager. He was also given credit as one of the creators that helped shaped the British punk movement. He was a visionary recording artist who loved to mesh different genres of music together. His first album, Duck Rock (1983) mixed African music with traditional folk and American hip-hop. The song "Buffalo Gals" was later sampled by Eminem for his 2002 hit "Without Me". The album "Fans" (1984) meshes opera with electronic music. Waltz Darling (1989) was a disco & funk inspired album that contained the track "Deep In Vogue", which no doubtingly influenced Madonna's "Vogue" (1990). All in all McLaren released 16 studio albums in his career. You can read more about Malcolm McLaren @ www.telegraph.co.uk.
