MLK - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
The origins of U2's "Pride (In the Name of Love)" began in late 1983. The song in it's conception was initially an idea about U.S. President Ronald Reagan and America's defiant foreign policy. But the song and it's elements were not coming together. That all changed when the band visited the Chicago Peace Museum. An exhibit dedicated to the civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. left a strong impression on the band and the inspiration that had been waning had now been returned. "Pride" had a clear focus an entirely new song was born.
Taken from U2's album The Unforgettable Fire (1984).
